INTRODUCTION WITH FUNCTIONS OF THE SECTIONS 


The main objective of the Indian Railway is to carry the passengers, their luggage and goods from one point to other economically, securely, safely, comfortably and punctually. The Operating Department is to provide convenient services as per requirement to fulfill the objectives. The main functions of the sections i.e. Coaching (Punctuality, Cardex & Time Table), Goods and Planning under Operating department are as under: -

F  To prepare requirement and demand of the public. Time Table for passenger services as per

F To run passenger services as per time table punctually.

F To make necessary arrangements for clearance of summer Rush, Mela Rush etc.

F To meet out the demand for reservation of coaches/special trains for marriage party, tourist etc and arrangement of its movement.

F Supply of Rakes/Goods stock for loading of goods on demand of merchants as per rule.

F To monitor the movement of Freight and Passenger Trains by Central Control round-o-clock and to implement the instructions given by concerned officers to the divisions.

F Monitoring of ODC and Military specials by control.

F Provision of private siding to and from station and factory on their demand as per rule.

F To propose essential works for train operation in works program on the basis of cost and justification.

F Review of work in progress of sanctioned works time to time.
