Shri Chandra Vir Raman
General Manager, North Eastern Railway
Shri Chandra Vir Raman has taken over charge of the post of General Manager, North Eastern Railway on November 07,2022. Earlier, he was posted as Principal Executive Director/Vigilance and Chief Vigilance Officer in Railway Board, New Delhi.
Shri Raman passed B.Tech (Hons) in mechanical engineering from IIT/Kharagpur and joined Railways through Indian Railways Service of Stores (IRSS) batch of 1986. His first posting was as an Assistant Controller of Stores in Integral Coach Factory, Chennai. Thereafter, in his distinguished career Shri Raman has successfully discharged the duties of various important posts such as Dy Chief Materials Manager/Sales on Southern Railway, Chief Materials Manager on South Western Railway, Controller of Stores at COFMOW, Delhi and Executive Director/Railway Stores. Shri Raman held various key posts such as Divisional Railway Manager, Alipurdwar, North East Frontier Railway, Chief Materials Manager Northern Railway and Principal Chief Material Manager, Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.
He has attended various training programmes in India and abroad, including at U.S.A., Singapore, Malaysia, France and Italy.
Shri Raman has wide experience of railway management and administration. He is equally popular amongst railway officers and staff.
